ADRIAN
MOKANU
Adrian Mocanu was born in 1989 in Kyiv, Ukraine and was studying music composition at P. Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of
Ukraine with Professor Yuri Ishchenko.
He also participated in various composition master classes with composers Beat Furrer, Raphaël
Cendo, Peter Ablinger, Francesco Filidei, Johannes Schöllhorn, Caspar Johannes Walter, Clemens Gadenstätter, Martin Schüttler, Helena Tulve,
João Pedro Oliveira and Mauricio Sotelo during various workshops in Ukraine, Russia, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Hungary. He was the winner
of 38th Young composer competition – Frederic Mompou International Award in Barcelona in September 2017.
Among the performers of his
works were Armonia Ludus Orchestra, Ensemble Nostri Temporis, Sed Contra Ensemble and New Music Ensemble ‘Ricochet' (Ukraine),
Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, MolOt-Ensemble and Festino Chamber Choir (Russia), Barcelona Modern Ensemble (Spain),
MotoContrario Ensemble (Italy), Kroiser Ensemble (Austria) and Ensemble 212 (USA), and also soloists Ricardo Descalzo (piano, Spain),
Natalia Pschenitschnikova (voice, Russia/ Germany), Yuri Matsuzaki (flute, Japan/Germany) and Rupert Bergmann (baritone, Austria). His works have been performed in Ukraine (Kyiv and Lviv), Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod), Spain (Barcelona), Lisbon (Portugal), Italy (Trento) and USA (New York and Fort Worth).
